To the Official Website of the LCA (Lemba Cultural Association). LCA was established in 1948 and represents the Lemba people, who are often referred to as the “Black Jews” because of their long-standing ties to the Jewish people and culture.

The Lemba clans in accordance with the order of seniority of clans or houses are as follows:
Buba/Juda, Hamisi/Hamese, Bakali/Bakari/Pakgadi/Rabakali/Rapakgadi, Seremani/Seremane/Solomon, Shlomo / Suleiman, Tovhakale/Thobakgale/Tovakare, Mhani/Mani, Hadzhi/Hadji/Rahadji, Sadiki/Sathekge/Sadiq/Tzadik, Ngavi/Zungunde, Mange/Nemanga, Salefu/Sarefu, Thinyaladzi/Chinyaladzi.

Our Totem

The Lemba Totem is the Elephant: The Elephant is a holy, intelligent, mighty and peaceful animal.

Many Lembas keep the images and pictures of an elephant at their homes and even in the tombstone of their graves as a symbol of their totem.
